More info about "Sync Devices"

Hey there!
So far, one of the best productivity app that I tried. Such a great job!

I'd like to know more about syncing devices like:

• Which port does it use?
• Is there anything else that I should know about besides the instruction in the app?

I've been using the app for a while, but I couldn't sync between devices (a GNU/Linux desktop and a smartphone). Knowing more about how the app handle the local network sync could give me some tip about this issue.

Great to hear you're enjoying the app! Here's the information about device sync:

Port: The sync feature uses port 44040 for WebSocket communication.

Additional Info:

• Works over local networks only (WiFi/LAN)
• Requires both devices on the same network

For your Linux-to-smartphone sync issue:

1. Ensure both devices are on the same WiFi
2. Check that port 44040 isn't blocked by firewall
3. Keep devices awake during sync

With your tips, I followed these steps:

• Desktop: sudo ufw allow from [LAN IP address range] to any port 44040 proto tcp
• Smartphone: Scan the desktop's QR code.

At this point, the smartphone could see the desktop device, but the desktop couldn't see the smartphone.

So I started the RethinkDNS app on my smartphone, and using the firewall feature, I created the following rule for the desktop address LAN: Trust [address]:44040.
And it finally worked.

Maybe needed these extra steps because I'm not using DHCP but fixed IPs. Not sure. But it is working now.
