Become a sponsor to Tristan Sloughter
Due to family responsibilities I am unable to work a full time job at regular hours-- I am open to taking on part time work with irregular hours if there are those out there you know of :). This has led to me opening for sponsorship in hopes I can continue to focus on my open source work. Main projects include:
- OpenTelemetry: There is much work to be done in Erlang/Elixir for keeping up with the specification. Some highlights are, bringing Metrics out of experimental and becoming stable. Declarative configuration. New features brought in by declarative configuration like easy filtering of health check spans. Config Providers for configuring Tracers. Entities. Retry exports. Concurrent exports. And much more. I am also a spec sponsor and part of the DevEx SIG.
- grpcbox: This is the main Erlang implementation of GRPC. Important work to be done here is improving support for load balancing and retries, improving compliance with the spec and perfomance enhancements. Another consideration is moving to using Cowboy as the HTTP/2 server over Chatterbox which I also maintain but this would take a lot off my plate.
- Adopting Erlang: New content and updates. Updating to the latest OTP. And there are a lot of updates to be had for the Release and Kubernetes chapters. Plus, new content in the pipeline is sections on clustering, StatefulSets and a chapter on observability.
Other projects I work on that can get more love are chatterbox, elli, pgo and erleans.
Lastly, I'd love to revive https://howistart.com/ with updated posts and new languages.
Sponsors can ping me if there is a particular project or issue they'd like to see worked on!
I also plan to start streaming at least weekly. So you can follow progress live!
