AxiosError: Request failed with status code 524

I've seen intermittent errors / crashes with HTTP status code 524

HTTP status code 524 appears to be "Cloudflare connected to the origin, but the origin didn't provide a response within 120 seconds":

Consider resolving this in a general way, such as with #350
